the embarcadero in san francisco. >> reporter: if you like splashing around in water, head to those low lying spots today you won't be disappointed especially if yesterday is any indication. these are from marin city where there was flooding they saw flooding on bike trails, parking lots up to the doorsteps of some businesses. today is expected to be the peak. king tides happen when the sun and moon align to the gravitational pull brings more water on to the shore. people knew it was happening but still surprised by the amount of water. >> there was flooding, i had no idea it was that bad. >> how long have you been riding here? >> i right everyday or try. declared san francisco's buy- back effort a success with 300 guns also recovered over this past weekend. he also announced pros posing two new gun control laws for the city. one that bans hollow point bullets, another that notifies law enforcement when anyone buys 500 rounds or more of any type of ammunition. now marin county is going to do a gun buy-back. the district attorney says they will have it on martin luther king day in mid-january. he says not only are they buying back weapons, but get this parents, they say you can also sell your child's ultraviolet videogames back. clearly, you know, it's really strange, holding that weapon, those machine guns in my hand like that and you can see why they're buoyed by the success but they acknowledge there are still thousands of these firearms still on the streets and new ones being sold every day as well as videogames. >> thank you. >>> san francisco police are already planning another gun buy-back. but cbs 5 reporter mark sayre shows us it may be impossible to keep ahead of a huge spike in gun sales. mark. >> reporter: well, juliette, not onl

in the upcoming term. california's proposition 8 is not on that list. ktvu's brian flores is in san francisco to tell us what that means for same-sex marriage here in california. >> reporter: hi, dave, good morning. it appears for now that opponents of proposition 8 will have to wait until the end of the week for any decision on this from the u.s. supreme court. we were waiting to hear some decision. but it appears the supreme court will at least delay it until about friday, though. the key was whether the prop was gonna be on their cases. now, if that happens, that means the decision won't come until june. this postpones any decision until later this week. come friday morning, we'll be at this to see if the supreme court agrees with the lower court on whether gay marriage is unconstitutional or if they will keep prop 8 as voted on back in 2008. a lot of reac-- a lot of reaction from the castro district. we'll stay on this. back to you. >> thank you. now, our washington, d.c. newsroom is also following this. coming up at 7:15, we'll have more analysis of what this morning's developments could
